YOU ARE PSYCHIC TOO!

Remember when you had a hunch about something and didn't follow it, and then kicked yourself afterwards, thinking, "If only I'd trusted my instincts...." How often have you thought of someone, only to have the phone ring moments later, with that person on the line? Do you recall those important conversations when you suddenly found words flowing out of your mouth that were so inspired and wise that you wondered, "Where did that come from? How could I have known that?" Could it be that you have untapped psychic abilities?

Yes, it could. The Aborigines of Australia are known to communicate telepathically with one another over great distances -- sometimes hundreds of miles! They find water in the desert with no tools or technology. They have been known to foretell the future with startling accuracy. How is it that simple "primitive" people can access such amazing abilities, while we "modern" people can't?

Simply because nobody ever told them they couldn't!

We are all born with psychic abilities. It is common belief that we normally use less than 10% of our brain's capacity. This 10% or less we normally access is called the "conscious" mind. But what about the remaining 90+% -- the "subconscious, unconscious and superconscious" aspects of our awareness? Psychic abilities are built right into the human package. Unfortunately, that package doesn't come with a set of instructions, so many of our inherent gifts are never realized.

It is possible for us to communicate telepathically with one another at will. You can view a photograph of someone and find out all about that person, before you even meet them. You can learn to hold an object and discover many things about its owner. You can develop sensitivity toward future probabilities, and experience being "guided" in your life. These abilities, and many more, are absolutely attainable. They are hiding inside of you, waiting to be discovered.

Although we all have latent psychic abilities, we live in a "left brain" dominated society, which is defined by rational, linear thought, so we rarely learn how to access them. In fact, we are discouraged from using that part of our nature. Right brain activity, which is creative and imaginative, is relegated to children, "crazy people" and artists. But it is through the right brain, the intuitive part of us which is prone to getting the occasional "hunch," that our psychic abilities can be found.

CAN DEVELOPING PSYCHIC ABILITIES BE HARMFUL?

Electricity can be used to light up your home or to activate an electric chair. Psychic abilities have the same range of diverse potential, depending upon the user. One of the most powerful psychics of our time was a man whose name (unfortunately) we all know -- Adolf Hitler, who had a passion for the occult in all forms. Obviously, his psychic abilities were twisted and distorted in the service of evil, self-serving ends.

When people consult a psychic, an astrologer, a medium or a channel, they come with open hearts and minds, searching for answers. I have seen unconscionable psychics use their clients' vulnerability to bolster their own egos and pocketbooks, manipulating them to become dependent, rather than encouraging and facilitating their clients' self-reliance. The saying "what goes around comes around" is multiplied in force when applied to psychic abilities, since we are dealing with greatly amplified energy.

We are each responsible for everything we create. Just as electrical power can create or kill, psychic energies put to destructive uses will eventually return and destroy the user. Therefore, when we seek to develop these skills, it is crucial that we constantly monitor our motivation, with honesty and integrity. Am I developing these skills to impress people and make friends? Am I seeking to manipulate others due to subconscious desires for power or possessions? Or am I sincerely excited about my potential to expand my awareness, in service to life and humanity? Those who develop psychic abilities with love, for use in service and enhancement of their own and others' lives, will reap rewards of attunement and fulfillment.

GETTING STARTED

Once our motivations are clear, we can begin. In my experience as a teacher of psychic abilities, one ingredient stands above and beyond all others for developing these abilities: TRUST! I have seen many students stand in their own way, afraid of being wrong, not expressing valid and excellent psychic information because they were afraid to trust their own impressions. As soon as they would let go and take a chance, wonderful, valid and useful information would flow right through them. You must be willing to risk being wrong to discover how right you can be. We seem to believe, "If it's easy, I must be doing it wrong." Nothing could be further from the truth.

You receive psychic impressions all the time. You simply don't notice because you have not trained yourself to observe them and haven't known what to look for. In addition to learning where to look, listen and feel within yourself to receive psychic impressions, there are several other processes that need to occur during the development of your psychic abilities. Of tantamount importance is a spiritual focus, so necessary if you abilities are to be utilized for the highest good. Equally important is working out emotional and mental blockages that keep you stuck and limit your vision of reality. It is impossible to separate one part of our being from another. We must develop our entire consciousness as a whole. You must first be willing to see where you are stuck, and then take action to heal yourself. If you are emotionally blocked and don't know how to heal on your own (and most of us don't), seek help, whether through a counselor, a therapist, a spiritual advisor, or a teacher. This is vital to psychic expansion. In my classes, I am always amazed to see how much more "tuned in" my students are after we have done an emotional clearing process.

First and foremost, listen to your intuition. The "still, small voice" that speaks within you is rarely wrong. What gets in the way is your rational, skeptical, linear mind. Practice focusing on what your feelings and heart are telling you, not just your rational mind. How can you differentiate between the communications of your mind and heart? The mind speaks loudly and abruptly, the heart gently and softly. Therefore, you must slow yourself down enough to be able to perceive the communications of your heart. Meditation does wonders for stilling the mind. Whenever you receive an intuition or hunch about anything, take note of it. Instead of passing it by, I suggest writing those observations down. Then take a risk and follow those "leads." They will serve you well.

Secondly, it is important to realize that whatever we focus on in our lives will grow. Of course, this works for our negative and well as positive focus. If you center on problems and difficulties, they will grow. If you focus on personal development and attunement, they will grow. When you focus upon your psychic abilities, give them the best chance to grow by having fun. If you approach developing this part of yourself as a game rather than an effort, you will expand your perceptions much more rapidly. Relaxed concentration is the key.

Just as we have five senses for experiencing the outer world, we similarly have five corresponding "inner" senses. Through development of these internal senses, we can learn to feel, hear, see and know that which is beyond our conscious knowledge.

The simplest way to begin is to start with your daily life. One easy "psychic game" is guessing how many calls will be waiting for you before you check. Another is sensing who will be on the phone when you hear it ringing, or imaging what someone will look like or be wearing before you see them. You will be surprised how quickly you are able to develop this faculty.

Another psychic game you can play with a friend will help you develop telepathy (mind-to-mind communication). Sit across from one another. One person will be the "Sender," the other the "Receiver." After about 10 minutes, you will switch, and the person who was sending will now receive, and vice versa. The Receiver stills their mind and relaxes. Try, as far as is comfortable and possible, to make your mind a blank. The Sender will visualize a color and try to send that color into the mind of the Receiver. When the Receiver gets an impression, they speak it out loud. It is important for the Receiver to say the first impression they receive, although s/he may be feeling uncomfortable about not knowing if they are right. Remember, it is a game. Don't worry about being right and wrong. Just TRUST and try to have fun with it. I suggest beginning with the primary colors (red, blue and yellow). Once you feel comfortable with those, try adding the secondary colors (orange, green, purple). Later, you can try sending numbers, pictures, words, movies, etc.

I always advise my students to pay close attention to their dreams when developing their psychic abilities. Not only will you receive psychic impressions and messages through your dreams, but as you focus on them, your dreams will reveal emotional and subconscious blockages which are holding you back, both psychically and psychologically.

Psychic abilities are easy and fun to develop, particularly when you are advancing spiritually and getting in touch with yourself emotionally. You have unlimited resources for consciousness at your disposal, if you are willing to explore your own uncharted regions.
